About Angela Fox
“Each of us has lived through some devastation, some loneliness, some weather superstorm or spiritual superstorm. When we look at each other we must say, I understand. I understand how you feel because I have been there myself. We must support each other because each of us is more alike than we are unalike” - Maya AngelouMeet Angela Fox
Cape Town PsychologistThe quality of our closest relationships profoundly shapes our happiness, health, and sense of meaning. When we feel disconnected, misunderstood, or caught in patterns that repeat without resolution, life can quickly feel overwhelming and lonely. My passion is to help people of all ages—children, teens, individuals, couples and families—find new ways of relating to themselves and to others, so that they can experience greater emotional freedom, security, and authentic connection.
My work is grounded in psychoanalytic perspectives, which pay attention to unconscious processes, relational patterns, and the ways in which past experiences continue to shape present life. This orientation allows me to listen not only to what is spoken, but also to what is hidden, unspoken, or enacted in the therapy relationship.
Alongside this, I integrate Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), developed by the late Dr Sue Johnson, a model with strong research evidence for helping couples move out of cycles of disconnection and build secure, lasting bonds. My training has also included systemic and family approaches, but my central focus is the integration of psychoanalytic and attachment-based ways of thinking.
I am a psychologist based in Cape Town. My professional and personal experiences—as a therapist, parent, and lifelong student of relationships—inform the depth and sensitivity I bring to the work. Ultimately, each person, couple, or family shapes the path we take together.
